The earliest red flags of a fraud are often the result of a company culture that has trended in a negative direction. This makes it imperative that an objective assessment of company culture be conducted and reported to senior management and the board. In this session, you will learn how to identify red flags related to culture, and tools and techniques to gather objective evidence of cultural improprieties.

Mariam Afzal, CFE, CPA, has more than eight years of experience in internal audit, which includes entity-wide strategic initiatives relating to anti-fraud and anti-corruption. She currently works for United Airlines where she leads the annual
fraud risk assessment, manages the fraud risk register, partners with HR and Corporate Security on fraud investigations and culture audits, as well as collaborates with ethics and compliance for the whistleblower hotline. Additionally, Afzal
leads teams domestically and internationally on operational, financial and compliance audits within the internal audit department.
