Andrew Fastow was one of the accounting masterminds at Enron behind a complex web of off-balance-sheet special purpose entities used to conceal years of massive losses and which led to the billion-dollar company’s collapse in 2001. He pleaded guilty to two counts of securities fraud before serving five years in prison. He now provides litigation support at a law firm and consults with directors, attorneys and hedge funds on how best to identify potentially critical financial, accounting, compensation and cultural issues.

Eugene Kaspersky is an IT Security expert, CEO and co-founder of Kaspersky Lab, Europe’s largest antivirus company. He began his career in cybersecurity accidentally when his computer became infected with the Cascade virus in 1989. Kaspersky's specialized education in cryptography helped him analyze the encrypted virus, understand its behavior, and develop a removal tool for it. After successfully removing the virus, his curiosity and passion for computer technology drove him to start analyzing more malicious programs and developing disinfection modules for them. This exotic collection of antivirus modules would eventually become the foundation for Kaspersky Lab’s antivirus database. Today the database is one of the most comprehensive and complete collections in cybersecurity, protecting systems from more than 100 million malicious programs.

In 1997 Kaspersky Lab was founded, with Kaspersky heading the company’s antivirus research. In 2007 he was named Kaspersky Lab’s CEO. Since then, he has earned a number of international awards for his technological, scientific and entrepreneurial achievements. He was voted the World’s Most Powerful Security Exec by SYS-CON Media in 2011, awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Science from Plymouth University in 2012, and named one of Foreign Policy Magazine’s 2012 Top Global Thinkers for his contribution to IT security awareness on a global scale.

Bruce Dorris is the Vice President and Program Director for the ACFE and is an advisory member of the ACFE Board of Regents. He is licensed to practice law as well as being a licensed Certified Public Accountant with experience in business valuation and litigation support. As an Assistant District Attorney for the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office in Shreveport, Louisiana, Dorris created and was the Director of its Financial Crimes Screening Section. He formerly served on the Board of Directors with the National White Collar Crime Center, and was the Vice Chairman of its Audit Committee. He is a Past President of the Louisiana District Attorneys’ Association ADA Section, and has worked in the Louisiana House of Representatives Fiscal Division. He has testified numerous times before legislative committees and was a frequent lecturer with prosecutor and accountant training associations.

Dr. Al-Awamleh has more than 18 years of experience in finance, business and consulting along with training and coaching. She is certified in many business sectors and has worked with big international associations and organisations. In addition to her international certifications, she has experience in commercial law as an arbitrator and expert in front of all Qatari Courts.

Al-Awamleh is an author of books published internationally in the U.S. and Europe, and recognised as references for higher education theses and studies. She is a writer for the economic section of a local newspaper in Qatar.

Waheed Alkahtani works as an auditing consultant with internal audits. He is currently a member of the IA/Advisory Group that provides self-assessment advisory services in the areas of controls, fraud and compliance risks. Before that he was responsible for administrating the General Auditor Hotline as well as developing and presenting an internal auditing fraud awareness program. Alkahtani joined Saudi Aramco in 2000 and carries the knowledge and experience of more than 15 years of work with Saudi Aramco and 10 more years with other companies in Saudi Arabia.

Alkahtani has jointly conducted several studies related to fraud prevention including ethics hotlines, codes of conduct and anti-fraud programs. In addition he was responsible for the design, deployment and implementation of the General Auditor Hotline 2010. In 2009, Alkahtani reactivate the local chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners ACFE in Dhahran, later named as ACFE Saudi Arabia Chapter 86, and currently serves as president of the chapter.

Alison Benbow is currently Head of Audit - Fraud Assurance and Investigations with Bank Muscat in Oman. She is a seasoned auditor with more than 26 years of experience. She has led audit teams responsible for local government audits and latterly banking audits. Her current focus is fraud and its prevention. Her key objectives are to protect the bank from fraud, raise awareness through seminars and training, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in terms of fraud prevention. She coordinates investigation teams and is responsible for all investigation reports along with ROP Liaison.

Benbow was instrumental in the establishment of the ACFE Oman Chapter. She is currently the chapter’s secretary and has spoken at local chapter events.

Charanjeet Bhatia is an MBA with more than 19 years of experience in risk management, audit and sales functions and has worked in the banking sector in India, Tanzania and the UAE. He is currently working with FGB as Head of Group Fraud Risk Management and has been also elected as Vice Chairman of the Fraud Prevention committee of the UAE Banking Federation.

Bhatia has conducted more than 500 fraud investigations as lead investigator on cases including conflict of interest, data theft, document forgery, bribery and corruption, workplace ethics violations, occupational fraud, syndicate fraud, electronic banking fraud and security. He has set up fraud risk management function from scratch in previous companies and has strengthened the function at others by covering the complete life cycle of fraud risk management.

José Carrera has more than 20 years of international, strategic, progressive and senior-level management experience in internal auditing, HIPPA/HITECH, SOX, business integration/process improvement, corporate governance, risk management, forensic accounting and information technology. His experience includes growing, developing and directing internal audit departments to achieve their utmost performance. He also has significant experience performing global enterprise-wide risk assessments for both business process and IT control environments. He has also developed monitoring and risk and control reporting oversight, controls transformation and corporate governance functions/programs. Carrera’s additional experience includes the development and implementation of global SOX, HIPPA/HITECH and internal audit programs where he led process training and change management initiatives to ensure sustainability.

Salah Fahmy is a Chartered Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner with accumulated 31 years of experience in audit, finance management and law enforcement fields. Fahmy is currently employed as a Financial Expert at Public Prosecution in Doha, State of Qatar, where he is assigned to several task forces which concentrate on major fraud cases involving public funds. His expertise revolves around the specialized fields of auditing, financial analysis and litigation. He reports directly to the Attorney General (Public Prosecutor) in Qatar and is the only anti-fraud expert in the Middle East region that works with government at Public Prosecution.

In 1991, Fahmy joined KPMG Dubai as an audit supervisor prior to joining Emirtas as an IA supervisor in Dubai, then he was assigned in Al Ahlia Portfolio Sec. Co., Muscat, Oman as a Finance Director. In 2004 he joined Olympic Group (Electrolux) Egypt branch as Group Financial Dirctor (GFD), and he worked with Bahgat Group in Egypt as a group CFO.

Tim Harvey is a fraud consultant with experience investigating fraud in both the private and public sectors. He joined the Metropolitan Police in 1979 and was a career detective, spending a third of his service at New Scotland Yard’s Fraud Squad and as the Detective Superintendent of the Economic Crime Department, he managed more than 120 investigators. He joined the City of London Police when they obtained government lead status for fraud in 2004. After retiring from the force he became the Director of U.K. Operations for the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners as well as a Justice of the Peace on the bench of Northamptonshire Magistrates Court.

Dr. Stephen Hill is a Trustee Director of the Fraud Advisory Panel and chairs its Cybercrime Interest Group.

Hill spent many years working for a top firm of chartered accountants heading the Fraud and Forensic Group, leading an expert body advising clients on prevention, detection and recovery of fraudulent assets, working closely with organisations in both the public and private sector.

He has developed and delivered a series of counter fraud and investigation courses to clients both in the U.K. and overseas including the National Crime Agency, Charity Commission, CIFAS, police forces both in the U.K. and overseas and private sector corporations.

With an appointment as a Volunteer to the City of London Police Economic Crime Directive, Hill assists fraud investigators with the aid of online investigation techniques and speaks at schools on the dangers of the internet in line with his role as a safeguarding and child protection governor at his local primary school.

Dr. Hill sits on the ACFE U.K. Chapter committee and is an honourable member of the London Fraud Forum.

Ramazan Isik has more than 17 years of experience in internal audit, control and fraud risk management. Since 2013, he has been the Chief Audit Executive of Denizbank (Turkey), which is a part of Russian Sberbank group, as well as a member of the Executive Committee. In his current role, he is responsible for internal audit and fraud detection and investigation activities.

From 2006 to 2013, he worked in Credit Europe Bank (Russia) as Chief Audit Executive and before moving to this position, he worked for Yapı Kredi Bank (UniCredit Group) as senior auditor and fraud examiner for more than seven years.

Kanupriya Jain leads Control Risks’ fraud investigations practice, supporting clients with proactive fraud and corruption risk management, internal and regulatory investigations, dispute advisory and complex problem solving cases. She has worked with clients spanning several industry sectors including oil and gas, information technology, legal, hospitality, pharmaceutical, consumer products, agrochemicals, infrastructure and real estate, and financial services.

Jain has been named an Asset Recovery Expert for India by the Who’s Who Legal for 2014 and 2015. She co-authored the white paper “Grey Practices – Fuelling Fraud and Corruption in the Indian Business Environment” and has several published articles on fraud and corruption in Asia.

Sherman R. McGrew entered military service as a Reservist in 1979, retiring as a U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel in 2010. He is a graduate of Army Command and General Staff College and has had three active duty deployments, working extensively with the U.K. Military and U.K. Civilian Police Contingent in Basra, Iraq. McGrew retired as a Captain with the Waterbury Police Department in 2009, having also served as a Patrolman, Detective, Sergeant and Lieutenant. He has conducted thousands of interviews with suspects and has lectured on interview and interrogation to the police, military and international audiences. As a detective, he extensively investigated financial crimes, securing convictions while at all times respecting the rights of the accused. He holds a Bachelors Degree from the University of Connecticut, a Masters in Forensic Science from the University of New Haven and a Law Degree from The University of Connecticut, School of Law.

Iyad Mourtada, CFE, CIA, CMA, CCSA, CRMA, CPLP, M.A. is an international speaker, trainer and consultant with a diverse background in internal auditing, risk management and fraud examination. He had taught many unique auditing and fraud related courses to international corporations and government entities. His innovative and creative teaching approach proved to be effective in adding value to the learning process of more than 10,000 professionals in the last 8 years. Mourtada is the General Manager of OpenThinking, a leading business training company in Dubai. Additionally, Mourtada is an authorized trainer with the ACFE to teach the CFE Exam Review Course in the UAE and is listed as a global public speaker on the IMA Speaker's Bureau.

Dr. Israel Sadu has been a senior civil servant, auditor and investigator with a distinguished career span of more than 25 years with the Supreme Audit Institute and other global bodies. Prior to his current assignment with the United Nations, he spent several years in research and teaching, and has worked strenuously for the advocacy of prudent government spending of taxpayers’ money and using data mining techniques. As a leading expert in fraud auditing and forensic audit techniques, Dr. Sadu has designed an anti-fraud framework concept and passionately champions knowledge-transfer among fraud investigation practitioners.

His published works include “Red-flags and anti-fraud controls in public works”, “Red-flags and anti-fraud controls in rural employment guarantee scheme”, “Digital Forensics” and “A survey of frauds in the government sector.” Dr. Sadu has trained a large number of audit professionals from India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Iran, Iraq, Myanmar, Nepal, Oman, Seychelles, St. Lucia, Uganda, United Arab Emirates and Vietnam in information technology audit, audit of frauds, fraud detection techniques and forensic audit.

Tom Totton is currently GM – Internal Audit with bank Muscat in Oman. He is an accomplished banker with more than 30 years of experience and has led teams involved in retail banking, treasury, merger/acquisitions and currently internal audit. Totton was the first in the Sultanate of Oman to achieve the QIAL qualification. He was instrumental in reviving the IIA chapter in Oman and he was the Acting President of the Chapter where upon he took over the administration responsibilities on a voluntary basis.

He is a very active member and a major contributor of the CAE Forum in Oman and is a faculty member of the College of Banking and Financial studies (CBFS). Totton is currently the President of the ACFE – Oman chapter.

Gerard Zack is a managing director in the global forensics practice of BDO Consulting, a division of BDO USA, LLP, and is based in Washington, DC. He has more than 30 years of experience providing fraud prevention, detection and investigation services, as well as forensic accounting, fraud risk assessment, auditing and risk management. He brings a rich investigative and audit background to provide proactive anti-fraud services for his clients, such as designing data analytics programs, fraud awareness training programs, and performing fraud and compliance risk assessments, all aimed at prevention and early detection of corrupt behavior. He has worked with businesses in many industries, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies globally. Prior to joining BDO, he ran his own anti-fraud services firm, Zack P.C., since 1990.

Gerry Zack is the 2009 recipient of the James Baker Speaker of the Year Award from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and is recognized as one of only nine ACFE Fellows.

Syed Imran Zia is a seasoned audit professional with internal audit experience spanning more than a decade. He has worked for various multinationals, Big 4 firms and for national and international corporations. His hands-on experience includes setting-up internal audit functions for various organisations in the Middle East and he is considered a subject matter expert. He serves on the advisory committees of several professional bodies including ACCA and the ACFE.
